Unity Framework a boon or Curse for Native App Developers?

The unity framework has gained a lot of attention from game developers due to its quirky features, supportive pricing, and rich features. It has the ability to function as a cross-platform game development tool and saves developers time as they do not need to code for two separate platforms.

Unity Framework a boon or Curse for Native App Developers?

So, for native app developers, does unity come as a boon or is it perceived as a curse?

Over the years, Unity has become one of the best apps for game development. In this era where visual treats are given more preferences, frameworks like Unity can effectively render 2D scenes as well as 3D scenes. It offers high-quality renderings as compared to most of the other available software. Further, unity is cross-platform compatible which means that there is no need to develop separate code for different mobile platforms. Developing native apps demands a lot of effort. Further, it is easier to use and has a lot of documentation, making the lives of developers really easy. It’s not as pricy as some of the other platforms too and offers a lot more features.

So, why curse?

Well, some of the features like render textures; profiler and stencil support which are common in many free tools are paid with Unity. The terrain engine and Movie textures are unnecessarily complicated and the cost of Unity Pro seems quite extravagant.

The Unity framework has been, for most of the gaming industry a boon, but some points definitely give it a thumbs-down. Unity is a great platform to create mid-size and small games, but for really big projects, use the more complex tools. But, overall, Unity has been a big hit in the near future for the games development industry.
